Waddesdon Manor Christmas Projection

JSCGI joined with Yes Events to produce a Christmas themed projection for the 2023 Christmas at Waddesdon event. Working with the team at Waddesdon Manor for several months, the theme was storytelling based around three classic books, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and The Snow Queen. As well as the books, we needed to include some history and some of the magnificent collection in the manor. We designed a loop based around these elements and presented this back to Waddesdon who loved the concept. We took inspiration from the books and spent time in the manor looking at the artwork and decided that we should have a 3-4 minute hero section for the main stories and then have an advent calendar section based on the calendars from our childhood to then showcase some more of the collection behind the calendar doors. The last of the doors then closed with the numbers on acting as a count down to the top of the loop.

After a few weeks preparing the 3D scan of the manor we had a model and pixelmap to work with and started animating in August. The team worked on the animation with the sound also being designed and mixed alongside. Then early in November JSCGI spent a few days on site getting the mapping and programming all in place for the press launch on the 21st November followed by the public opening the following day. The reception on social media has been a renowned success which is always great to hear.
